Newton Fire Department to Begin Hydrant Testing on May 31

Hydrant

The Newton Fire Department will start annual hydrant testing starting Tuesday, May 31 in the central and western parts of the community.

The area of testing extends from W 4th Street and east to hydrants on the west side of E 12th St; as well as approximately 60 hydrants to be tested west of W 4th Street. The testing will start in the north half of the district.

While the Newton Fire Department will make every effort to work the testing to minimize the amount of debris stirred up in the water, discolored water is a possibility during testing.

Questions can be directed to the Newton Fire Department and the Fire Chief at (641) 792-3347.
