Mahaska County recently approved a contract with McClure Engineering for a site certification process for the local connector project between Highways 23 and 63.
The approval was put forward by Oskaloosa City Manager Mike Schrock during a recent city council meeting, and the following day he and council member Doug Yates attended a county meeting with Highway 23 business owners, according to coverage by The Oskaloosa Herald. The business owners were able to bring any questions or concerns to McClure during the meeting.
During the city council meeting, Yates also discussed an earlier meeting involving Highway 23 business owners, according to The Oskaloosa Herald. Yates said that business owners weren’t just happy about the planned connector, but many said they would like to see it go even further.
Some of the business owners said they would like to see the connector extend past Highway 63 to Highway 163, according to coverage by The Oskaloosa Herald. Some also said they would be in favor of the connector extending past Highway 23 to connect to Osburn Avenue.
