Students in the Iowa Culinary Institute® (ici®) Baking and Pastry Arts Program at the DMACC Newton Campus are holding a Thanksgiving Dinner Roll Fundraiser for the second year in a row, and online orders are being accepted now through 12 p.m. on Nov. 22.
The Baking and Pastry Arts Program launched in the fall of 2020, and 24 students in this year’s program will be baking dinner rolls in preparation for Thanksgiving. The rolls can be pre-ordered by the dozen in either white or whole wheat, and will be packaged in a foil pan to make them easy to heat up. The cost is $6 per dozen, and contactless order pick-up will be available from 10 a.m. to Noon on Wed., Nov. 24, at both the DMACC Newton Campus and the DMACC Urban Campus in downtown Des Moines.

“Last year’s Thanksgiving Dinner Roll fundraiser was a great success, and our talented DMACC Baking and Pastry Arts Program students are excited to showcase their skills again this year,” said Chef Ryan Binney, who leads the Baking and Pastry Arts Program at the DMACC Newton Campus. “Additionally, proceeds from the fundraiser will help fund student travel costs to attend a Baking Expo event next summer, which is a wonderful opportunity for our students.”
Students who complete the one-year Iowa Culinary Institute® (ici®) Baking and Pastry Arts diploma program, which is offered exclusively at the DMACC Newton Campus, will graduate as skilled baking artisans who are prepared to begin working or to continue on to earn a two-year culinary degree.
