Poll workers who oversaw the ballots in Jasper County spent several hours over the weekend recounting all the ballots cast for the 2020 election.
Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate ordered the recount after errors started materializing. Pate said some errors were due to human data entry error in one Jasper County precinct. The error has caused a disparity in the numbers reported following the election.
Jasper County Auditor Dennis Parrott said the error hasn't interfered with the organic results. Parrott also said that only one precinct's results were misreported to the state.
"This is my second one and it is a hell of a recount," Parrott said, according to KWWL News 7.
Poll worker Ron Hodges said there were a lot of comments about how the system doesn't work, but the process of recounting shows that it does.
