Ice Rink Season Canceled

Cancelled

The Grinnell Parks & Recreation Department and the Ahrens Park Foundation have decided to cancel the 2023 Grinnell Community Ice Rink season. It was determined to be in the best interest to cancel this season based on the following reasons: (1) this winter has been and continues to be unseasonably warmer than usual, (2) ice rink season typically ends in mid-February (based off recent seasons), and (3) the ice rink liner only lasts one season.  With the ice rink liner being a one season use item, the pros of getting use of it for an entire season in 2023-2024 outweighed the use for maybe a couple weeks of good ice when looking back at our recent winters.  We are saddened that we won’t be able to bring ice skating fun to the park this season, but plan to have it back up and operational for next winter (weather dependent).

We appreciate your patience and understanding.  Let’s hope spring comes soon!
