Make your Thanksgiving meal prep a little easier by purchasing delicious dinner rolls from students in the Iowa Culinary Institute® (ici®) Baking and Pastry Arts Program at the DMACC Newton Campus. Students are holding a Thanksgiving Dinner Roll Fundraiser for the third year in a row, and online orders are being accepted now through 12 p.m. on Mon., Nov. 21.
Last year’s fundraiser received orders totaling approximately 250 dozen – or 3,000 individual – dinner rolls, which students in the Baking and Pastry Arts Program worked together to bake in preparation for Thanksgiving.
“This year marks our Third Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Roll fundraiser, and our talented DMACC Baking and Pastry Arts Program students are excited to participate,” said Chef Ryan Binney, who leads the Baking and Pastry Arts Program at the DMACC Newton Campus. “Proceeds from the fundraiser will help fund student travel to the 2023 American Culinary Federation (ACF) National Convention next summer in New Orleans, which is a great opportunity for our students.”

Rolls can be pre-ordered by the dozen in either white or whole wheat, and will be packaged in a foil pan to make them easy to heat up. The cost is $6 per dozen, and order pick-up will be available from 10 a.m. to Noon on Wed., Nov. 23, at both the DMACC Newton Campus and the DMACC Urban Campus in downtown Des Moines.

Students who complete the one-year Iowa Culinary Institute® (ici®) Baking and Pastry Arts diploma program, which launched in 2020 and is offered exclusively at the DMACC Newton Campus, will graduate as skilled baking artisans who are prepared to begin working or to continue on to earn a two-year culinary degree.
