The City of Grinnell is holding a public information session for street projects in northwest Grinnell on Wednesday, September 28th at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at Drake Community Library in the Caulkins Community Room (930 Park Street).
The city of Grinnell is planning to rebuild the following street segments in 2023:
- Prairie Street from 11th Avenue to 13th Avenue
- Reed Street from 11th Avenue to 14th Avenue
- Spencer Street from 11th Avenue to Van Horn Park
- 14th Avenue from Prairie Street to near Belmont Drive
This will include removal of the Portland Cement Concrete, placement of rock base, subdrains, installing new streetlights, sidewalks, and pouring a new asphalt street surface. A recent comparable project in the area would be 13th Avenue from Sunset Street to Prairie Street. This is a substantial project and will disrupt travel on these street segments for significant portions of the 2023 construction season. City staff's goal is to minimize the inconvenience this project will cause for residents while also providing the contractors with the ability to complete the project in a timely manner. Anyone interested in the project is invited to attend.
