Sunset Street Project
OEL Construction Services, Inc. of Steamboat Rock, Iowa is the contractor working to rebuild Sunset Street from 8th Avenue to 11th Avenue. Work on this project began in early June after the high school graduation activities concluded. All underground utility work has been completed allowing OEL to perform the first concrete pour today.
Workers will pour nearly 800 linear feet of street starting at 8th Avenue and ending near the north entrance to the high school (south end of old tennis courts). Once the entire street is in place workers will need to build the stormwater intakes, place sidewalks, install lighting, build the intersection of 8th Avenue and Sunset Street, build the crosswalks, perform soil backfill, seed, and install signs.
