Rachelle Scott Oakley to Join Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families as Site Coordinator, Polk County Financial Empowerment Center

Scott Oakley Will Help Residents Develop Plans to Reduce Debt, Increase Savings, Improve Credit Scores and More

Rachelle Scott Oakley will join the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families (EKDC) at the DMACC Urban Campus on March 28 as the Site Coordinator for the Polk County Financial Empowerment Center. The Financial Empowerment Center is a partnership with DMACC, Polk County, the Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE Fund) and the United Way of Central Iowa, to provide one-on-one financial counseling to Polk County residents as a free public service. The Center's highly trained coaches are available to help residents develop plans to reduce debt, increase savings, improve credit scores, access banking and achieve personal goals.

Prior to joining DMACC's Evelyn K. Davis Center, Scott Oakley served in numerous roles at Iowa Workforce Development Center, most recently as an Operations Manager within IowaWORKS.

“A dynamic and highly effective leader, Rachelle managed teams within the Disabled Veterans Opportunity Program (DVOP), Home Base Iowa and the Work Opportunity Tax Program (WOTC)," said Dr. Ahmed Agyeman, Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families Director. "Rachelle is dedicated to living her values and executing her vision to create valuable opportunities for underrepresented individuals and communities."

Scott Oakley is a life-long learner and will soon complete her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Dubuque. She graduated from Upper Iowa University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. Later this year, she will take the Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) exam.

“I want to effect change that opens new doors, provides exciting opportunities, and creates personal and generational wealth for people who have been historically underserved," Scott Oakley said.

She said when not working, she likes to spend time cooking, reading and spending time working in her yard and helping her husband to grow their lawn care business.

“We are excited to have Rachelle Scott Oakley join the Evelyn K. Davis family. It is rare to come across people with such intelligence, talent, positive attitude and dedication to their work and team," Dr. Agyeman said. “We have worked with Rachelle in her previous position and know her expertise and energy would be of great use to EKDC and DMACC."
