Grinnell College to stream Met Opera’s “Ariadne Auf Naxos on March 12, 2022

Grinnell College recently issued the following announcement.

Grinnell College will stream “Ariadne Auf Naxos” on March 12 as part of the Met’s 2021-22 Live in HD season. The exhilarating soprano Lise Davidsen makes her Live in HD debut in one of her signature roles, the mythological Greek heroine of Strauss’s enchanting masterpiece. The outstanding cast for this March 12 transmission also features mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as the Composer of the opera-within-an-opera around which the plot revolves, with soprano Brenda Rae as the spirited Zerbinetta and tenor Brandon Jovanovich as Ariadne’s lover, the god Bacchus. Marek Janowski conducts. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe. 

WHEN: Opera at 11:55a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022. 

WHERE: Harris Center Cinema, 1114 10th Ave., Grinnell 

TICKETS: Tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under. Season passes for all 10 operas in 2021-22 are available for $100. 

DETAILS: All visitors are required to wear a mask indoors.  

The college welcomes the participation of people with disabilities. Harris Center Cinema is equipped with an induction hearing loop system, which enables individuals with hearing aids set to T-Coil to hear the program. The college also welcomes the presence of minors at all age-appropriate public events and for informal visits, with the understanding that a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible adult assumes full responsibility for their child's safety and behavior during such visits or events. In these cases, the college expects that an adult responsible for the visiting child takes measures to ensure the child's safety and sees that the child complies with directions of college personnel. Grinnell College is not responsible for supervision of minors on campus.
