Grinnell College recently issued the following announcement.
Jasper Yang '22 became one of Grinnell College's few three-time selections to the All-Midwest Conference Men's Soccer first team today.
Yang is Grinnell's first three-time first-teamer since Joey Brown accomplished the feat from 2012 through 2014. Grinnell also had three second-teamers, Ray Goedeker '22, Noah Guyton '23 and Zak Serby '25. They are All-MWC selections for the first times in their careers.
Yang, the MWC Offensive Player of the Year, was named to the All-MWC Team at an attacker spot. In 2021, he established school records for points (54), game-winning goals (eight) and shots on goal (53) while also tying the school mark for assists in a game with four. He is the national leader in game-winning goals and ranks second in total goals with 24 and points, while ranking third in goals per game with 1.26. He led the MWC in shots per game (4.11), shots on goal per game (2.79), goals per game (1.263), game-winning goals and points.
Goedeker was a second-team attacker on the All-MWC squad, while Guyton and Serby earned honors as defenders.
Goedeker ranks second in Grinnell history for assists per game (0.39) and fourth in assists with 19. In 2021, he had nine assists which ranks second all-time at Grinnell and his assists average of 0.53 is fifth. His assists total was tops in the MWC and points total of 15 ranked eighth.
Guyton and Serby sparked a defense that showed its mettle more and more as the year went on, giving up under a goal per game in its final seven regular-season contests. Guyton helped his cause offensively with two goals and an assist, while Serby added one goal and two assists.
