Event Description:
Drake Community Library and the Grinnell Historical Museum are co-sponsoring "J. B. Grinnell and Journeys of Freed," a combination program featuring insights into Grinnell's founder, J .B. Grinnell and a one-act play abuot slavery and the Civil War. The program will be held in the Community Room at the library on Wednesday, August 4th at 10AM.
Jon Andelson, Professor of Anthropology at Grinnell College and past Director of the College's Center for Prairie Studies will open the program with a talk titled "Almost Too Good for Us: What Drove J. B. Grinnell". Andelson's talk will be followed by Iowa authors, Patricia and Kevin Kimle's one-act pay featuring characters from their new novel The Only Free Road: An Underground Railroad Saga Unveiled.
