United Way of East Central Iowa has established a new fund that aims to help nonprofits survive the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, KCRG reported.
The Community Agency Response Effort (CARE) was set up to assist nonprofits and community organizations that have been adversely affected by COVID-19. Those who have experienced heightened childcare costs or a loss of income could be helped through the efforts of CARE as well.
The new fund comes after UWECI gave $40,000 to Alliant Energy to help it support the community.
“We are working to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 crisis for our employees, customers and the communities they live in while continuing safe and reliable operations,” Terry Kouba, president of Alliant Energy’s Iowa energy company, according to KCRG. “United Way’s relief fund will provide immediate support to help those in need during these unsettling times, especially those most vulnerable.”
The organization is currently accepting donations from individuals and organizations.
