Numerous charities in eastern Iowa have made changes to upcoming events to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Among these charities is Make-A-Wish Iowa, which has moved its Corridor Gala, scheduled for March 27 in Cedar Rapids, to a virtual fundraising event.

“We remain committed to our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child fighting a critical illness,” Make-A-Wish Iowa states on its website. “In the Cedar Rapids area alone, 20 wishes are currently waiting to be granted in the Make-A-Wish Iowa pipeline.”

Another organization, Eastern Iowa Honor Flight has postponed a flight that was scheduled for April.

“Our number one priority is the health of our veterans and also their well-being,” Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Board Member Allen Stekl told KCRG.

The Iowa Department of Public Health reports there have been 105 confirmed coronavirus cases in Iowa. Nationwide there have been more than 33,000 confirmed cases.
